1. Fully Funded PhD Programs in Mathematical Modelling of Surface Water Flow
Summary of PhD Project
The goal of the project is to develop a simulation tool that, based on meterological and map data, can predict the water level in selected areas in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. To make this happen the initial task of the project will be to derive a mathematical model (a partial differential equation) where the flow of water through soil is based on upscaled flow (Darcy-like), and the flow of water through rivers are described a lower dimentional channel flow. Additionally, coupling conditions for flow between land and reservoars (lakes) and rivers will play an important role. Melting of snow and glacier will, with rain, form the source of water in the system.

3. Fully Funded PhD Programs in psychometrics and self-reported health data
Summary of PhD Project
The project aims to improve the accuracy of self-reported health data for mental health care using Norse Feedback (NF), a digital tool for measurement-based care (MBC). The project will be part of work on larger datasets in already funded research projects in PERSONFORSK, and the successful candidate will develop state-of-the-art expertise in health statistics and data analysis. The study focuses on increasing the interpretability and accuracy of NF scores by developing normal ranges and clinical thresholds for different mental health conditions.

7. Fully Funded PhD Programs in Data Science
Summary of PhD Project
The last decade has seen enormous advances in practical methods for machine learning, providing us with data analysis techniques that are, in many cases, much more efficient than the techniques which have traditionally been employed. As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly ingrained in the society, it is crucial to ensure that the machine learning algorithms not only make correct inferences, but are also developed in a manner that garners public confidence in their applications.
