The laboratory of Dr. Lijun Rong in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the College of Medicine at University of Illinois Chicago is looking for motivated post-doctoral candidates to study virus-host interactions. The Keyhani Lab is seeking a one-year Visiting Research Specialist. The successful candidate will lead efforts at genome sequencing, assembly, and annotation, bioinformatic analyses of large dataset related to transcriptomics, proteomics, and/or metabolomics. The successful candidate should have a strong background in bioinformatics and molecular biology, as well as practical skills in the most standard methods currently used in molecular biology/biochemistry (such as protein expression, purification, etc.). Experience in machine learning tools relevant to genome evolution and genome database management is preferred.
