1. Fully Funded PhD Programs in Resilient-by-design Cyber Physical Systems against Data Integrity Attacks
Summary of PhD Project
This project aims to develop a novel verification methodology and corresponding toolchain to detect and mitigate such threats to CPS at the design time making the CPS resilient-by-design. Typically, CPS are modelled as hybrid systems, comprising discrete (cyber) and continuous (physical) components. The core technical innovation lies in modelling the verification problem as a delta-decision problem, solved using an extended SMT (Satisfiability Modulo Theories) solver.

2. Fully Funded PhD Programs
Summary of PhD Project
Our vision is to expand our world-leading Multi-Disciplinary and Multi-Scale Modelling expertise in both reach and ability, to tackle major societal challenges affecting the environment, quality of life, safety, security, and the economy. This will be achieved through the amalgamation and expansion of two existing award-winning teams: the Centre for Safety, Resilience and Protective Security (CSRPS) and the Computational Science and Engineering Group (CSEG), creating the Multi-scale, Multi-disciplinary Modelling for Impact (M34Impact) platform.

3. Fully Funded PhD Programs in Identifying neural correlates: A multi-disciplinary approach to examining systems thinking. Implications for climate-smart agriculture practice
Summary of PhD Project
Future climate change scenarios have increasingly highlighted the negative effects on agricultural productivity worldwide (e.g. Nelson et al., 2014) and this is likely to be especially acute in low income countries, particularly in the Global South (e.g. Morton et al., 2007). The significant role of agriculture in climate change has increased the importance of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices. CSA is broadly defined as farmer practices that contribute to sustainable increases in agricultural productivity, build climate adaptation and resilience for farmers, and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Khoza et al., 2020).

4. Fully Funded PhD Programs in Advancing High Moisture Extrusion of Plant Protein blend for Next Generation Meat Analogue (HME4PPB)
Summary of PhD Project
This PhD project aims to explore process-quality inter-relationship of textured plant protein blend using under-utilized legume and algae by optimising the HME process. Working at the cutting-edge facilities of the Medway Food Innovation Centre (MFIC; https://mfic.gre.ac.uk) and supported by the $30m Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein (led by Imperial College), the candidate will get direct hands-on exposure to run Thermo Fisher twin-screw extruder and training to use other industrygrade analytical equipment. This project would offer the selected candidate developing industry relevant skills to optimise HME process and learn various analytical methods to characterise quality attributes of food products.
